There is a boil notice for Central Bowie County Water Supply Customers and Redwater Customers.
Residents and businesses served by Central Bowie County Water are currently under a Boil Water Notice following a recent disruption in the water system resulting in a drop in system pressure.
Due to this pressure drop, conditions exist that could allow harmful bacteria and microbes to enter the water supply. To ensure your safety, water used for the following activities must be boiled:
Drinking and ice making
Cooking and food preparation
Brushing teeth
Washing face and hands
Important: Children, seniors, and individuals with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to waterborne illnesses.
How to Properly Boil Your Water
To ensure all microbes are destroyed, officials instruct residents to follow these steps:
Fill a pot with tap water.
Bring the water to a vigorous, rolling boil.
Continue boiling for at least two full minutes.
Allow the water to cool completely before using or storing it in clean containers.
If you prefer not to boil your water, using bottled water is strongly recommended until the notice is officially rescinded.

Safety Guidelines & Precautions
Dishwashing: Use a dishwasher only if it has a sanitizing cycle or reaches at least 150°F. If washing by hand, rinse dishes in a bleach solution (1 tsp unscented bleach per gallon of water).
Bathing/Showering: Safe for adults, but be careful not to swallow water. Use extra caution with infants and toddlers.
Pets: Provide pets with boiled or bottled water; they are also susceptible to waterborne bacteria.
Water Filters: Most household filters (like refrigerator filters or pitchers) do not remove bacteria. You must still boil the filtered water.
When Will the Order Be Lifted?
The order will remain in effect until laboratory tests confirm the water is safe. We are monitoring the situation closely and will post the official “Rescind Notice” here on TexarkanaOnline.com the moment it is released by officials.
Once the notice is lifted, it is recommended to flush your home’s pipes by running cold water taps for 15 minutes.
