Texarkana, Texas — Three juveniles are facing charges after Texarkana Texas Police recovered five firearms—most believed to have been stolen during recent vehicle burglaries across the Texarkana and Nash areas.
Off‑Duty Nash Officer Spots Suspicious Vehicle
The incident occurred around midnight Friday when an off‑duty Nash police officer, working security at the local movie theater, noticed a vehicle matching descriptions tied to recent burglary investigations. The officer notified TTPD Officer Jacob Miramontes, who located the vehicle as it left the area and conducted a traffic stop in a nearby parking lot.
Firearms Found Hidden Inside Vehicle
Inside the vehicle were three juveniles, ages 14, 15, and 16. During the search, Officers Miramontes, Aaron Lewis, and Aaron Jones recovered four handguns. A fifth handgun was found concealed under one juvenile’s shirt. Investigators believe at least four of the weapons had been reported stolen in recent vehicle break‑ins.
All three teens were arrested on charges of Theft of a Firearm and transported to the juvenile detention center.
Police Urge Gun Owners to Secure Firearms
TTPD emphasized that many firearms used in local crimes originate from thefts involving unlocked or unattended vehicles. Officers urge gun owners to avoid leaving firearms inside vehicles whenever possible—and to secure them in locked compartments if they must be stored temporarily.
The investigation remains ongoing. As in all criminal cases, the juveniles are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
