TEXARKANA, Ark. — A historic downtown train car is set to take on a new life this month as local restaurateur Jenn Wren prepares to open The Concho Railhouse, a food‑and‑drink spot designed to serve families by day and adults by night.
The 1940s railcar, most recently home to Alley Cats Coffee Bar, will remain the centerpiece of the business. Wren said she intends to restore original seating, expand the menu, and introduce activities such as karaoke and games to create a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
Wren, formerly manager at Hooters- Texarkana before its recent closure, said the timing pushed her to pursue a long‑held goal of owning her own establishment. She also hopes to offer employment opportunities to former Alley Cats staff affected by the shutdown.
“I want this to be a place where everyone feels welcome — something fun for locals and something memorable for visitors,” Wren said.
The Concho Railhouse plans to serve coffee, breakfast, and a variety of food options during daytime hours, with the space transitioning into a bar setting in the evenings. Wren said her vision is influenced in part by her time living in Saratoga, New York, where she experienced unique downtown dining concepts she hopes to bring to Texarkana.
The Concho Railhouse will be branding with Big Gilley’s Smokehouse, Ashdown Arkansas. We will provide you with their brisket and pulled pork.

The opening comes during a period of continued growth and reinvestment in the downtown district.
The Concho Railhouse is scheduled to open at 8 a.m. on June 13. Hours will run 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays. Alley Cats Coffee Bar will close permanently on Sunday.
