43rd Annual Memorial Day Service to Honor Fallen Heroes at State Line Avenue

TEXARKANA — A foundational community tradition returns this month to honor the service and ultimate sacrifice of local military members.

The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter #278 has officially announced it will host the 43rd Annual Texarkana Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2026.

The annual gathering will take place at the Korea/Vietnam Memorial, located at the intersection of 7th Street and State Line Avenue. The service is scheduled to begin promptly at 11:45 AM.

Remembering the Fallen

For over four decades, Chapter #278 has gathered the Twin Cities community on Memorial Day to ensure that those who gave their lives in service to the United States are never forgotten. The ceremony routinely features a localized tribute, including the reading of names of area service members lost in conflict, a color guard presentation, and the traditional playing of Taps.

Local veterans, military families, and all community members are heavily encouraged to attend, bring lawn chairs, and gather along the state line to show their support.
