On April 4, 2026, an Arkansas State Police trooper conducted a major drug seizure during a traffic stop on Interstate 40 in Crawford County, near Van Buren.

Around 6:30 p.m., a vehicle was stopped near the 2-mile marker. Upon searching the vehicle, troopers discovered a massive haul of illegal edibles totaling over 1,300 pounds:
- 650 pounds of mushroom-based edible gummies.
- 718 pounds of THC-infused gummies.
Investigation and Legal Context
The driver, who was traveling from California to Georgia, was interviewed by investigators and subsequently released pending further investigation. As of now, no formal arrests have been made.
This seizure follows the implementation of Arkansas Act 629, which went into effect in August 2023. The act prohibits the processing and possession of industrial hemp containing certain THC substances (like Delta-8, Delta-9, and Delta-10) on the state’s Schedule VI controlled substances list.
